Well, not just first date disasters. Dates can be tricky whether it’s the first or the 50th, so we canvassed a little bit to bring you some crazy, cringe-worthy dating horror stories from fellow Ontarians. We hope you enjoy reading them as much as we did!
THE BILL, PLEASE?!
We came to know each other through mutual friends and had texted back and forth for a little while before arranging our first date. He was even better looking than I expected, he was so charming he even pulled my chair out for me when we arrived at our table. Things were going great until he ‘jokingly’ asked if I was going to pay or if I was expecting him to get stuck with the bill? We ate mostly in silence after that, except for strained small talk here and there, then as soon as we finished eating I asked for the bill and paid, we parted ways and never spoke again. I’m not one for expecting my date to pay, but there are a lot nicer ways you can address the issue. No need to be so rude, especially on a first date.

TIME TO TANGO?
I met this girl online and she was great, she was gorgeous and she seemed extremely outgoing. She had a passion for dancing and would talk about it whenever she got the chance, so after a couple of coffee dates I thought it would be nice to surprise her and take her dancing. Dinner went well and we had a few drinks over the course of it, but when it came time for us to get out onto the dance floor she started making ex- cuses and headed to the bathroom. It was about 15 minutes before she returned then she con- fessed that she’s never taken any dance classes and doesn’t do it recreationally, she just thought it would make her seem more fun to people…

BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR
I had been single for a while and was fed up with prospects in my current dating pool, so I decided to ask my siblings if they had anyone in mind that could be a good potential partner for me. Of course my siblings were eager to jump at the chance to set me up so I let them bring on the candidates. What a mistake. My sister had the PERFECT, JUST PERFECT guy for me, or so we thought. He was definitely a great guy, he was attentive and caring and our personalities meshed really well. Well, it wasn’t until about five months into the relationship that I discov- ered his lengthy criminal record. It was enough to end the relationship.

ONE AT A TIME, PLEASE!
I met this guy on a dating app and he made me feel like the only woman in the world that mat- tered, but it turns out every woman in the world mattered. Or at least 6 others mattered since I was now his seventh girlfriend at the time. Yes, he had seven girlfriends including me (until I found out of course, then he was back to six).
