Bladder Cancer Canada is a national not for profit charitable organization focused on supporting bladder cancer patients and their caregivers, raising awareness and funding research. The vision of Bladder Cancer Canada is a world where bladder cancer is just a memory.
There are currently over 80,000 people in Canada affected by bladder cancer and there are 9,000 newly diagnosed cases each year. Given the high recurrence rate, it is one of the most expensive cancers to treat.
Bladder Cancer Canada is celebrating 10 years as an organization and its 10th awareness walk. There are 19 walk locations across Canada with a “virtual walk” accessible online. The walk takes place the third weekend of September.
The annual walk accounts for 60% of annual funding for the organization and has raised over $3.5 million over the past 10 years. The national goal this year is $600,000.
Budget allocations are targeted at truly making a difference.
