Nearly 1 in 2 Canadians will be diagnosed with cancer. That is a staggering and frightening statistic. Luckily, the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, one of the top 5 cancer research centres in the world, is committed to transforming cancer care through discovery research and clinical innovations.
This spring, you can help The Princess Margaret continue its life-changing work by participating in an exciting new fundraising program — Colour Your Hair to Conquer Cancer. During the month of May Canadians of all ages are encouraged to go big, go bold and colour their hair to raise funds for cancer research.
Getting involved is easy! Simply register, set up your fundraising page, share your story, and get fundraising. Colour your entire head of hair, do a few streaks, choose an under- colour, or colour your beard — it’s up to you!
One of the first in line to register for the program was Jo-Ann McArthur. Having received treatment from the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre herself several years ago, Jo-Ann has a deep personal connection to the cause.
“I’m colouring my hair for cancer in honour of my mother and in recognition of the hope and results Princess Margaret offers. My mother didn’t get to see her 55th birthday due to cancer, but thanks to the cutting edge research and high level care I have received from The Princess Margaret I just celebrated that milestone birthday” shared Jo-Ann, an Honorary Chair in the inaugural Colour Your Hair to Conquer Cancer program.
Every donation, small or large, helps make a difference. So get the whole family involved, or participate as a business, organization, school, sports team or a community group. Hair stylists can also volunteer to become a Colour Your Hair Stylist and Professional Salons can enter the Hair Colouring Contest to win cash prizes and so can participants.
