Last October over 600 people on 80 teams took on the challenge of climbing Blue Mountain 40 times. Why? To reach the height of Mt. Everest of course! 29,092 feet is the height of Everest and Blue Mountain is 720 feet, which meant that each team had to make 40 collective ascents of Blue Mountain to reach that epic goal. Along the way they also raised an amazing $350,000 for the Collingwood General & Marine Hospital Foundation!
Local Hospitals provide much needed services to both their regional population and to the many visitors to the area. Collingwood General & Marine Hospital is no exception and in a region famous for four season activities like skiing, mountain biking, road riding and hiking there is always a need.
To bring awareness and fundraising front and centre, the Everest Challenge was created and launched in 2018 to amazing success. 2019 will see the second annual event take place on October 19th. This year the goal is even greater with 800 participants across 100 teams lacing up their boots and taking on this fun and exciting challenge!
You don’t need to be a mountain climber, just a fun spirited individual looking for a challenge and wanting to make a difference. $50 gets you in and a $400 fundraising ask puts you over the top.
