In 1999, based squarely on a food most had never even heard of at the time, Noorudin and Anis Jiwani decided to take a cultural food icon – the samosa – and make it mainstream.
It all started with in a tiny 3000 square foot plant in Sherwood park, Alberta. Anis, a dietitian, envisioned the Chef Bombay brand being the number one supplier for high quality, Indian food. To achieve this all products are fully prepared in their plant, and frozen within hours of being cooking to seal in its freshness and quality without the need of adding undesirable additives or preservatives.
Today, in a much larger, Alberta based facility, their full line of products range from Indian appetizers, including samosas and pakoras to entrees such as Butter Chicken and Chicken Tikka Masala. Aliya’s Foods continues to be North America’s largest supplier of samosas. Their goal is to be a leader in providing mainstream Indian as well as Indian fusion prepared appetizers and entrees to keep up with the growing market demand for great quality.
