When the ones we love are diagnosed with or die from cancer, we often want to do something to help or remember them. The Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) wants you to know Relay For Life is your chance to do this.
“As a parent, I want to create a better world for my kids. I don’t want them to fear cancer the way I did, losing grandparents to the disease,” says Cari Miller.
Cancer has been a cause close to Cari’s heart. Her stepfather completed treatment for cancer just over two years ago. But it was her best friend’s diagnosis with Hodgkin lymphoma in university which really spurred her to take action against the
Wanting to do something to help, she participated in Relay For Life and has continued to volunteer and fundraise with the event for more than 10 years, even with her young family.
“Cancer affects everyone in some way. Volunteering and fundraising means so much knowing I’m making a difference in others’ lives,” says Cari.
Funds raised through Relay For Life support Canada’s most promising cancer research and vital support services for people with cancer and their families. This means that no matter what kind of cancer you or your loved one has, we are working to ensure that no one has to face it alone.
