The 11th Annual Telling Tales Festival – September 15th, 21st, and 22nd, 2019.
Telling Tales is a free celebration of Canada’s leading children’s authors, illustrators, storytellers, and musicians and is recognized as one of the key annual events in Canadian publishing, dedicated solely to children’s literature.
The Telling Tales Festival offers a magical rural experience at Westfield Heritage Village, Rockton, where families leave their technology behind to celebrate stories, art, music, and fun. The Village’s natural surroundings and historic buildings make it the perfect location to bring stories to life.
On September 15th, Telling Tales welcomes legendary children’s entertainers Sharon and Bram — as well as nearly 50 of Canada’s finest children’s authors and storytellers.
“Telling Tales is a launching pad for publishers big and small, shining a light on local talent, as well as some of the biggest names in Canadian children’s entertainment,” says Telling Tales founder Susan Jasper.
This year we are introducing Nature Tales on September 22nd, connecting readers aged 3–10 to the natural world at the beautifully restored Hendrie Park in the Royal Botanical Gardens, Burlington.
Nature Tales’ feature presentation is Gumboot Kids Live Show with Eric Hogan and Tara Hungerford, the creators of the hit TV CBC Kids TV shows. They’ll be joined by Scout and Daisy and the show’s singer Jessie Farrell to launch their new series of paperback books to the world.
