I scream, you scream, we all scream for… winesicles?
The days are longer, the sun is brighter and you’ve been in hibernation for long enough. It’s time to shed those coats and winter blues and start getting your creative juices flowing. Now we’re all familiar with the daiquiris and margaritas of the world, but those ordinary cocktails are so 2016.
Wow your guests with one or all three of these oh so fancy winesicles and make your next spring get together one for the books!
Raspberry Sangria Winesicle
Chill out and cool off with a delicious sangria popsicle in the sun. You can also switch up the sangria with other flavoured juices like peach or orange juice. Creativity and fun is the key to a successful popsicle.
INGREDIENTS
2 cups Stoneleigh Sauvignon Blanc
10-15 fresh raspberries
2 ½ cups lemonade
¼ cup white rum
INSTRUCTIONS
1) Fill a shaker cup with 5-10 raspberries and muddle them until runny
2) Add lemonade, wine and white rum to the shaker cup and mix
3) Pour the cocktail into the popsicle molds approximately ¾ of the way to the top
4) Add 3-4 fresh raspberries to each mold
5) Freeze for 6 hours or overnight until completely frozen
Blueberry Mojito Winesicle
The mojito is definitely a classic, but there’s always room to experiment, right?
INGREDIENTS
2 cups of Ogier Cotes Du Ventux Rose
1 cup fresh Blueberries
3-4 fresh mint leaves
1 cup of blueberry juice
INSTRUCTIONS
1) Pour blueberries and mint leaves into a shaker cup and muddle
2) Combine mint mixture with wine and blueberry juice
3) Pour the cocktail into the popsicle molds approximately ¾ of the way to the top
4) Add 3-4 whole blueberries into each mold
5) Freeze for 6 hours or overnight until completely frozen
Red Winesicle
For the more sophisticate wine connoisseur, is a simple and classic red winesicle. Try pairing this icy treat with some delectable Castello brie cheese on a toasted crostini. Red wine and cheese? Yes please!
INGREDIENTS
1 ¼ cups Chateau Ste Michelle Merlot
1 ¼ cups lemon or lime pop
¼ cups of granulated sugar
¼ cups of water
Lime zest
INSTRUCTIONS
1) Combine water and sugar in a pot and bring to a boil on medium heat until sugar is dissolved
2) Set aside to cool
3) Combine wine, lemon or lime pop and sugar mixer together
4) Grate lime zest into mixture
5) Pour the cocktail into the popsicle molds approximately ¾ of the way to the to
6) Freeze for 6 hours or overnight until completely frozen
